This might sound weird, but this week i’ve had a cold. And I was starting to get annoyed as I had a bit of a sore throat, some coughing and now i’m just blocked up.
BUT..
Then I realized I haven’t had one for several years, it was like my immune system just wouldn’t react. So I ended up realizing it’s a good sign that my immune system is improving. It’s still not pleasurable after not long, but i’m trying to keep this in mind.
It may have been that I went to a friends birthday and was outside for hours where it was a little cold, though we were around the fire. This also shows me how far i’ve come, maybe still 2 years ago even on some days where others were saying ‘it’s a beautiful day’ even if there was a little wind i’d still get chilled, feel too cold and start to shut down physically and feel weak. If I stayed out in it too long i’d feel horrible for the rest of the day.
Well I was out at my friends birthday until pretty late, later than i’ve stayed up in a while atleast and I was pretty good, didn’t feel weak or anything and handled it well. Even my friend commented on how far i’ve come because she knows how I struggled with the cold before and how it would flare up alot of my symptoms.
So is it weird that i’m partly grateful for getting a cold? Not really in this case, as it’s a representation of my improvement and recovery and possibly that my immune system is starting to improve.
Sure i’d love to be in such ideal health that I just don’t get colds. I thought that was the case a few years ago, but the thing was that I had low energy and other symptoms back then so it may have been that my immune system was still impacted. As for how to tell the difference, whether i’m not getting colds because my immune system is low or that i’m really healthy.. i’m not totally sure yet. But this post is more about my current observation, and some of you may be able to identify with it.
Is that my dog in the blanket? No, my dog’s much cuter!
